Parador de Granada

Parador de Granada

Granada, Spain

Located in the heart of the Alhambra complex, the Parador de Granada boasts a rare location within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by pretty gardens and box hedges, the hotel resides within a former Franciscan monastery, which was the first resting place of the Catholic monarchs King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Inside, you’ll find the original cobbled cloister and galleries.

The 40 rooms are decorated in calming, muted tones to promote the tranquil atmosphere of the property. They all feature standard modern comforts, such as complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning. However, the views are the true highlight of the rooms, looking out over the Alhambra gardens or the Generalife, the complex’s summer palace.

The Parador’s restaurant serves cuisine inspired by the history of the Alhambra and has a large outdoor terrace with views across the hillside to the Generalife.

OUR OPINION:

Unmatched for letting you enjoy the timeless beauty of Granada, this hotel is unsurprisingly one of Spain’s most popular and sought-after Parador hotels. We love the tranquil atmosphere and incredible views.

Rooms

The comfortable, understated rooms reflect the building’s past as a monastery, with fresh, white linens and unassuming decor. Alongside this, they offer modern amenities such as TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning. They all have views over the Alhambra’s gardens or the Generalife.

Location

Set within the heart of the Alhambra complex, the hotel is well located for exploring both the main Alhambra Palace and the gardens and summer palace of the Generalife. Beyond the Alhambra, it’s an easy 10-minute drive into the heart of town or a 25-minute downhill walk to the cathedral, La Alcaicería (the home of Granada’s former grand bazaar) and the heart of the old Arab district, the Albayzin.

Food and drink

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the hotel’s restaurant, which uses Andalusian cuisine to infuse the Alhambra’s history. The large terrace to the front of the restaurant looks directly across to Generalife.
