Rooms

The hotel is divided over the original Georgian townhouses and a newer L-shaped extension at the back of the property. All rooms are elegantly decorated in subtle tones with neutral fabrics and have views over the city or the delightful, period-style courtyard gardens. Rooms in the main building, including the deluxe rooms and suites, are all unique in size and style, with rooms on the lower floors featuring high ceilings and large windows which are triple glazed to reduce noise. All room categories throughout the hotel offer separate bath and shower facilities, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and a minibar.

Location

Located opposite the grand government buildings and just up the road from the National Gallery, The Merrion sits in the heart of Dublin's most fashionable Georgian district and is just a short walk from many of the city’s main museums and sights. Trinity College, St Stephen' Green and Grafton Street, Dublin’s most exclusive shopping area, are also just a five-minute walk away.

Food and drink

There are a range of dining options at The Merrion, including a garden themed restaurant which spills out onto the terrace of the hotel’s period gardens. Alternatively, for a more exclusive choice, try Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud (located next door), the only restaurant in Ireland to hold two Michelin stars.

Bar No. 23 is an intimate, residents-only bar, whereas the Cellar Bar, located in the 18th-century wine vaults of the main house, has a livelier atmosphere and is open to the public.

The lounge and drawing rooms with their open fires are the perfect location for a unique afternoon tea, called ‘Art Tea’, cleverly inspired by art from the 19th and 20th century. 

Families

The hotel will provide cots or rollaway beds for children up to 12 years old sharing with parents. There is also a babysitting service available, junior room service options and children are welcome to use the swimming pool facilities where mini bathrobes are available. Merrion Square is close by where children can enjoy the gardens and the children’s playground.

Facilities and activities

Guest facilities include the Tethra Spa which offers three treatment rooms and an 18-m (59 ft) infinity pool. There is also a fully equipped gym with a personal training service and a steam room.

The hotel has a number of rooms available for guests with special needs and also offers a specific entrance for wheelchair users.
