Chintheche Inn

Lying just down the coast from Nkhata Bay, seven kilometres south of Chintheche town and a ten-minute drive from the airstrip, the Chintheche Inn is a single storey resort with spacious tropical gardens, a beautiful beach with safe swimming and an aura of the most exquisite charm and simplicity.

The inn offers its guests a small swimming pool overlooking the beach, an intimate restaurant with a varied menu and good wine list, and a well stocked bar with plans afoot to build some tennis courts.

Guests can also expect 24-hour electricity and hot water, a laundry service, an IDD telephone and fax at reception and even a small exchange library. Accommodation consists of ten en suite rooms, three are interconnecting, and all have direct access to the beach and lake views. There are also three self-catering chalets with two twin bedrooms although these do not offer lake views. All rooms are spacious and well thought out and feature en suite bathrooms (shower only), twin beds, fan, mosquito nets, private veranda and drinking water.

Activities to be enjoyed here are as varied as they are numerous and include snorkelling (equipment can be hired at reception and is free to hotel guests), birdwatching walks, a visit to the nearby Bandawe Mission, and an early morning stroll to the local fishing village to see the catch being brought in. Guests can also take boat trips to the islands, visit the local rubber plantation or the resident hippo pod. If you are still short of ideas you can enjoy a wide variety of water sports and mountain biking.
