The small town of Asahidake Onsen sits at the foot of Daisetsuzan's highest peak, Mt Asahidake, and is the ideal location to base yourself while exploring this beautiful part of Japan.

The resort is thoughtfully landscaped, and offers a number of pleasant strolls along wooded trails between the hotels and guesthouses.

Exploring Asahidake

The Asahidake Ropeway (cable car) heads up from the top of the town to the 4th station and runs year round for hikers in the summer and skiers in winter.

Whatever level of activity you enjoy this is a very relaxing spot to come and appreciate the fine scenery of Japan's largest national park, and the relative inaccessibility of the area means it is mercifully less cluttered by the usual tour bus traffic than other parts of the island.
