Housed in a meticulously restored 16th-century building in the heart of Split’s People’s Square, this charming boutique hotel is ideal for immersing yourself in the city’s rich culture. Spread over four storeys and accessed by a pretty internal courtyard, the interiors pay homage to the property’s history with exposed brick and stone walls, wooden parquet floors, antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, and Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance-era decor.

There’s also a first-floor lounge with a dining area and library, a team of well-trained staff who excel at personal service, and ten individually designed guest rooms named after some of Split’s most celebrated artists, craftsmen, scientists, and entrepreneurs. Spectacular sights such as the 1,700-year-old Diocletian’s Palace and the Cathedral of Saint Domnius are just a short walk away.

Rooms

Named after some of Split’s most celebrated residents, all ten guest rooms are individually designed and feature Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance-era decor. Varying in size and layout, all have ample living space, comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton linens, parquet flooring, and Swarovski crystal lighting. There’s also flatscreen TV’s with satellite channels, minibars, air conditioning, soundproofed windows, and Wi-Fi access. Bathrooms have bathtubs, heated towel rails, bathrobes, and toiletries.

Location

You’ll be staying on the southwest corner of People’s Square, just a short walk from the extraordinary Diocletian’s Palace. The central location means that any part of the walled city or waterfront promenade can be reached in less than five minutes. There’s also a selection of well-priced restaurants and shops nearby. The entrance to Marjan Hill is 15 minutes away.

Food and drink

Breakfast is served in the hotel’s lounge, just off reception. You can enjoy a buffet spread as well as à la carte options, coffee, and fresh juices. While the hotel does not offer lunch and dinner, the staff will happily help with restaurant recommendations and reservations.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, library with guidebooks and magazines, and luggage storage. Laundry and dry cleaning services can be arranged on request.

Accessibility

Due to the historic status of the building, access to the hotel’s rooms and reception area is by a number of stairs. However, staff are insistent that guests are not allowed to carry anything heavier than a wine glass, so help with luggage is available.
