Sarah

Maldives, Mauritius & Seychelles Specialist

My love of travel was ignited from a young age, having lived in Hong Kong, Cyprus and Italy as a child and travelling extensively with my family. After completing a temporary position within the admin department here at Audley in 2014, I knew I wanted to come back full time as one of the Indian Ocean specialists and so went on to complete my degree in Business Studies and eighteen months working with another travel company to gain experience before returning to Audley.

Since joining Audley, I’ve further deepened my love of travel by experiencing Indonesia, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and the Caribbean, with some of my highlights being an incredible safari in Tanzania, the stunning, white sand beaches of the Seychelles and the spectacular temples in Indonesia.

Q&A with Sarah

Bois Cheri Tea Fields, Mauritius

What’s the one thing you always pack?

Something I always pack with me is a portable phone charger, as we all know how much of our lives happen on our phones nowadays including boarding passes, itineraries, and Google maps. A portable phone charger allows you to stay connected especially if you’re out and about exploring on holiday, the last thing anyone wants is to get lost.

Turtle, The Maldives

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

One of my most vivid travel moments was snorkelling with turtles and nurse sharks straight from the beach in the Maldives. I haven’t experienced water as clear or sand as white as I have there and having the opportunity to walk straight from your room into the water and be among some of the most varied underwater life is truly an unforgettable experience.

White Tailed Tropicbird

Where would you love to travel next?

I’ve been fortunate to have visited the Seychelles and experienced the rugged beauty of Denis Island but would love to head back and visit more of the smaller islands such as Bird Island and Alphonse Island. They offer a different perspective to the Seychelles, and you can’t beat having time to switch off from the outside world and be immersed in the picturesque landscape and remoteness of these islands.
